Report: Turkey can ask Russia to cut price after gas field discovery
ANKARA, Aug 26 (PRIME) -- Turkey expects to cooperate with Russia having discovered a gas field in the Black Sea, Finance Minister Berat Albayrak told channel NTV late on Tuesday.
He added that the field may allow Turkey to ask for a 30% discount for imported gas.
Albayrak said: "Russia and Iran are the countries that we have been cooperating with in the gas sphere for many years and this new period can lead to new cooperation with these countries. We will perhaps be cooperating as a producing country. Russia is a reliable supplier, they have not left us, have not restricted supplies even in tough times."
According to an earlier statement by President Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish drilling vessel Fatih discovered a gas deposit with reserves of about 320 billion cubic meters.
